DESCRIPTION:This event will be a screening of the film "Dive! Living off America's
Waste" http://www.divethefilm.com/ Dive is a 50 minute film about food
waste. Inspired by a curiosity about our country's careless habit of
sending food straight to landfills, the multi-award-winning\ndocumentary
DIVE! follows filmmaker Jeremy Seifert and friends as they dumpster dive in
the back alleys and gated garbage receptacles\nof Los Angeles'
supermarkets. In the process, they salvage thousands of dollars worth of
good, edible food - resulting in an inspiring\ndocumentary that is equal
parts entertainment, guerrilla journalism and call to action.\n\nAfter
clearly displaying the problem of food waste, this event will be an
opportunity to discuss a local food waste solution. Dana Frasz, Founder
and Director of Food Shift will talk about her plan to reduce food waste,
provide jobs and create more sustainable community in Oakland. \n\nThe
event is free but we suggest a donation. We will have food, drink and will
be hosting a $2 per ticket raffle of Ecover cleaning products. Please
spread the word and contact me with any questions or if you are interested
in sponsoring the event with raffle prizes, food or drink. Thank you!\n
