DESCRIPTION:The future of this species, and that of millions of others alive and yet to
emerge, is hanging in the balance. Exotic fossil fuel extraction threatens
to extend big oil's grip on this dominant culture. From Mountain Top
Removal to Hydrofracking to Tar Sands Mining, each "new" method of
extraction puts our future without fossil fuels farther out on the
calendar, leading inevitably to levels of carbon dioxide in the air that
foul the atmosphere and oceans. Come hear the story of a trip across the
United States to protest the Keystone XL pipeline from activists Karen
Enger and Jordan Perry. In August 2011, they joined with 15 others in a
trek from California to Washington DC to stand in solidarity outside the
White House hoping to call attention to the proposed pipeline project. This
session isn't just about storytelling, though. It's about coming together
and making action happen, locally and persistently, for the earth. \n\nThis
