How is such suffering possible in the United States, the wealthiest country in the history of the world, especially while the richest one percent lives in ever grander opulence?\n\nInstead of attending to the needs of working-class and poor Americans, the state forces agreements such as NAFTA on neighboring countries that take away jobs from the ninety-nine percent here and abroad. These policies help only the rich!\n\nThe fifty-third anniversary of the Cuban revolution reminds us that there is an alternative to the downward spiral of capitalism, and that is socialism.
