DESCRIPTION:COME TO A PROTEST AGAINST LEGISLATION (NDAA) CONGRESS IS APPROVING (AND
PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS NOW SAID HE WILL SIGN) TO ALLOW THE INDEFINITE
DETENTION OF US CITIZENS AND OTHERS IN OUR COUNTRY AND AROUND THE
WORLD.\n\nSPEAK OUT IN SF AGAINST THE NDAA AND FOR THE BILL OF RIGHTS ON
 IT'S 220TH ANNIVERSARY, TODAY\n\nToday, Thursday, December 15, 2011, is the
220th anniversary of the Bill of Rights. At the same time, a bill that
will undercut civil liberties, called the National Defense Authorization
Act (NDAA), is moving through Congress and to President Obama for his
signature as early as today. Although he promised to veto it, he now
appears to be poised to sign it. There will be a speak out against it and
for the Bill of Rights at noon today at 101 Market Street. An open mic
will give the public the opportunity to talk about the Bill of Rights, and
to raise the danger posed to our civil liberties by the NDAA.\n\nAccording
to the Bill of Rights Defense Committee and the ACLU, the NDAA would allow
the US military to indefinitely detain US citizens without due process,
which is a violation of the Bill of Rights. San Francisco is among many
cities around the country where there will be public events held in honor
of the 220th Anniversary of the Bill of Rights, which will also be an
opportunity to shine a light on the the NDAA and it's threat to civil
liberties.\n\nThe San Franciso event is being organized by the San
Francisco 99% Coalition* in cooperation with the Bill of Rights Defense
Committee (http://bordc.org/ndaa/).\n\n*The San Francisco 99% Coalition
works in coalition with and supports groups which promote nonviolent
advocacy for more equitable social, economic and environmental public
 policies.\n\n\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2011/12/15/18702803.php
