DESCRIPTION:CrimethInc. Presents: Capitalism and Resistance in the 21st Century\n\nA
discussion drawing on our new book, 'Work'\n\nAfter so much technological
progress, why do we have to work more than ever before? Why does the old
labor movement seem to be powerless to stop the new assault on workers? Can
capitalism survive another century of crises? And how do we get out of this
mess?\n\n\nPlease join us for a high-energy discussion of these questions
and more. We'll be discussing contemporary capitalism and resistance, both
to demystify the former and strategize for the latter. We will examine the
historical foundation of our current situation, but also delve into the
global upheavals of the past year, drawing on first-hand reports and
participation.\n\n\n'Work' is the combined effort of a group of people who
have already spent many years in pitched struggle against capitalism. Some
of us used to be students or pizza deliverers or dishwashers; others still
are construction workers or graphic designers or civic-minded criminals.
But all of us have lived under capitalism since we were born, and that
makes us experts on it. No one has to have a degree in economics to
understand what's happening: it's enough to get a paycheck or a pink slip
and /pay attention/. We're suspicious of the experts who get their
credentials from on high, who have incentives to minimize things that are
obvious to everyone else.\n\n\nFor years, CrimethInc. ex-Workers have
occupied the marginalized and precarious economic position that is now
coming to characterize the entire US working class/. /Consequently, we have
occupied ourselves with the project of elaborating what a radical response
to exclusion from the workplace might look like. We believe that, In an age
of precarity, sustainable struggles must be based outside our positions
within the economy, which we can lose at any time. That is to say, the only
politics with any future is a politics grounded in outside
agitation.\n\n\nWho is more entitled to occupy a school than those who can
no longer afford to attend it? Who is more entitled to occupy a factory
than those who cannot find work within it? Capitalism is not just in
crisis—even at its best, it is incapable of fulfilling our needs. We must
all become outside agitators if we are to make our way to a better
 world.\n\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2011/12/13/18702691.php
