DESCRIPTION:Workers’ Justice at Whole Foods\n\nThe East Bay Solidarity Network calls
for community members to\nstop business-as-usual at the SOMA Whole Foods on
Wednesday,\nNovember 23rd.\n\nNatalia, a former worker at corporate grocery
giant Whole Foods who had\nreached the $19-per-hour salary cap for her
position, was fired after 13 years of working for the company, without
having received any warnings or write-ups.\n\nAny employee, especially one
who has been dedicated for 13-years, deserves to be able to defend
themselves against unfounded accusations that greatly damage their
livelihood.\n\nThe East Bay Solidarity Network (EBSol) and Natalia are
demanding her job back at her previous wage with full back pay.\n\nEBSol
sent a letter to the Whole Foods in San Francisco’s SOMA district
where\nNatalia worked, petitioning for the above demands, but has since
received no\nresponse.\n\n“We won’t let this giant, gentrifying
box-store push this case aside,” said Ryan Pollack, an EBSol organizer.
“As a business that’s refused to allow any union organizing among its
workers, the staff’s rights are very limited. This kind of case is
exactly why EBSol organizes: We all need to know that people will have our
backs while our bosses treat us as expendable.”\n\nThe day before
Thanksgiving is Whole Foods’ most profitable, and the SOMA\nstore expects
to make far more than Natalia’s full annual wage on that day
alone.\n\nEBSol has organized an action Wednesday, November 23 from 4pm
to\n8pm at 399 4th street San Francisco to turn shoppers away the day
before\nThanksgiving, to tell Whole Foods that they need to re-hire
Natalia.\n\n“Whole Foods will be in a very vulnerable place the day
before Thanksgiving,”\nsaid EBSol organizer Ameena Regis. “Stopping the
regular flow of business will\nbring a wakeup call to the doorstep of Whole
Foods – a corporation that stands for nothing less than expensive organic
 food and workplace abuse.”\n
