DESCRIPTION:Come join the fun of selling and purchasing Uhuru Pies, a popular holiday 
 fundraiser that supports towards the African People’s Education and 
 Defense Fund’s newest program, Uhuru Jiko, Swahili for “Freedom 
 Kitchen,” coming to the Oakland Uhuru House community center to create a 
 hub of economic and cultural life in the African community of East Oakland, 
 which bears the brunt of the unemployment and foreclosures.  The commercial 
 kitchen is slated for installation and is part of a whole renovation of the 
 Uhuru House community center in the summer of 2012.\n \nUhuru Pies are in 
 five flavors including traditional sweet potato, pumpkin and pecan and also
