DESCRIPTION:Rally\nMarch\nGeneral Assembly: What are the next steps?\n\nOccupy
CSUMB!\n\nThe CSU system is infected with the same disease as the rest of
our sick society. It is designed to allow a small group of people to enrich
and empower themselves at our expense. So as our tuition rises every year,
and the staff and faculty are denied promised raises, the top
administrators throughout the system receive outrageous salaries and
benefits.\n\nBut its not just about money. Its about power; its about
control. None of us have any meaningful control over our education.
Students choose courses that we did not help create. Staff and faculty are
forced to carry out policies that they did not help create. We are all
forced to eat food from companies that we did not invite onto our campus.
Even the “shared governance” that is offered to the faculty is a sham.
The Academic Senate now meets only once a month, and they still have to
work within the parameters that are set up by the Chancellor’s office and
the CSU Board of Trustees (BoT).\n\nSo what do we want? We don’t just
want Chancellor Reed to resign. We want no Chancellor. We don’t just want
the BoT to represent students, staff and faculty. We want no BoT. We
don’t want new multi-national corporations to replace Sodexo, Pete’s,
or Starbucks. We want no corporate influence on our campus.\n\nWe want a
free, democratic university. We recognize that the university belongs to
those who use it: the students, staff, and faculty. We are the university.
It belongs to us, and it should be run by us. This means more than an
occasional survey asking for our oppinion. It means real participation
throughout the university.\n\nUntil then, we must stop business as usual.
 We must Occupy CSUMB.\n
