DESCRIPTION:	\nA. Breeze Harper is one the nation's leading academics in the field of 
 animal rights and critical race theory and also the editor of the book 
 Sistah Vegan: Black Female Vegans Speak on Food, Identity, Health, and 
 Society. She is the author of Scar, and a contributing author to several 
 publications including, The Black Imagination, Science Fiction, and 
 Futurism, Cultivating Food Justice, Taking Food Public, the Journal of 
 Critical Animal Studies, and Sister Species: Women, Social Justice, and 
 Animal Advocacy. Currently, Breeze Harper is a doctoral candidate in the 
 department of Geography at UC, Davis with her research focusing on "how 
 race, class, gender, and geographical region in the USA affect community 
 (1) health and well-being and; (2) relationship to, and perception of, 
 alternative consumption practices."\n\nHarper will be visiting the UC 
 Berkeley campus to give a talk intersecting race and animal oppression. Her 
 talk will bring a nuanced critical perspective on animal rights and 
 veganism through understandings of the interplay of race in looking at 
 animal oppression and vegan spaces. \n
