DESCRIPTION:As #OccupyWallStreet widens and deepens, it is time to re-claim our history
and view our struggles from the perspective of world revolutionary history.
Both Marx and Lenin understood that an entire epoch of intense class
struggle must lie between global capitalism and global socialism. This is
the epoch of the world revolutionary process, which will last until the
proletariat has conquered state power not just in one country but in all
the leading countries of the world. Anthropologist Eugene Ruyle will place
the socialisms of the twentieth century in this world-historic context and
discuss how a scientific understanding of the world revolutionary process
can contribute to the complex struggles of the twenty first century, from
Wall Street to Cairo to Cochabamba.\n\nSuggested reading: Ruyle’s essay
“The World Revolutionary Process,” in the ICSS Pamphlet, The Crisis
Deepens: Marxist Critiques (free download at:
 http://www.csulb.edu/~eruyle/icsspubs.html).\n\nSponsored by The Institute
for the Critical Study of Society at the Niebyl-Proctor Marxist Library,
6501 Telegraph Ave., Oakland, Ca. For more info, call 510-428-1578 or
