DESCRIPTION:Sunday, October 23, 2011 Resource Center for Nonviolence Annual Dinner and 
 Speaker featuring AHMED SALAH. \n\nAhmed Salah is one of the key organizers 
 of the Egyptian Awakening and a current member of the Kifaya Coordinating 
 Council, one of the main groups continuing to work in Egypt for an end to 
 the military rule and a real democracy in Egypt, the first that ancient 
 nation will have ever seen.  \n\nSaleh will be speaking on “The Egyptian 
 Revolt and the Power of Nonviolence”. The strategies that he describes 
 are applicable here in the USA and can be combined with the Occupy 
 movements that are spreading everywhere,  including in Santa Cruz, San 
 Jose, San Francisco after being launched on Wall Street as well as with 
 many other kinds of activism. \n\nAhmed Salah is the executive director of 
 the House of New Future Center for Legal and Human Rights Studies in Egypt 
 and a freelance reporter as well as a full-time activist. Obviously a very 
 energetic and motivated person, Salah remains a member of the Coordination 
 Council of Kifaya and works to create true democratic representation from 
 Egypt’s many geographic, ethnic and other demographic sectors. An 
 Egyptian from a politically active family, Salah is a co-founder of the 
 April the 6th youth movement and the Kifaya Egyptian Movement for Change. 
 \n\nDebra Ellis, who was on the Audacity of Hope Free Gaza Flotilla boat, 
 will emcee the event. \n\nDinner at 6 pm (vegetarian), Program at 7 p.m.
