DESCRIPTION:Slavery is big business and it's thriving, with a conservative estimate of
27 million slaves in the world today. One industry in which forced labor is
rampant--and where public pressure is beginning to make a difference--is
chocolate. Cocoa is produced by victims of human trafficking, mostly
children, who are forced to work on the plantations of South America and
West Africa. U.S. Americans buy $13 billion worth of chocolate each year,
mostly slave-produced, and our consumer power can turn the industry around.
Come learn about the international slave trade in this documentary by U.
Roberto Romano and award-winning Danish journalist Miki Mistrati, and
 sample some fair-trade chocolate--no bitter aftertaste!\n\nWe'll take
action by signing Raise the Bar petitions to Hershey and joining a bulk
order of fair trade chocolate miniatures that will be delivered in time to
give out at Halloween.\nPost-film discussion & action leader: Rev. Amy
Zucker-Morgenstern\n\nSponsored by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center and
the Action Council of the Unitarian Universalist Church \n
