African People featuring Omali Yeshitela, Chairman of the African Socialist
International, Penny Hess, Chair of the African People's Solidarity
Committee and special guest Cephus "Uncle Bobby" Johnson of the Oscar Grant
Foundation. With a presentation by Uhuru Foods.\n\nHelp us build by
inviting your friends and/or coming the Wednesday meetings at 7pm at the
Niebyl Proctor Library, 6501 Telegraph Ave in Oakland. \n\nA Day in
Solidarity with African People is a national fundraising campaign for
solidarity with reparations, justice, liberation and self-determination for
African people everywhere. Events are taking place in Florida, Chicago, New
York, Oakland and Philly.\n\nTake the pledge of solidarity supporting the
Uhuru Movement programs for African self-reliance by giving a minimum of
$10 towards the programs of the Uhuru Movement.\n\nThe African community in
the US is bearing the brunt of the economic crisis - with an ever-widening
income gap, massive unemployment, foreclosures and escalating police
violence. It's time to take the pledge of solidarity and make a commitment
to reparations to the African community.\n\nStates Uhuru Solidarity
Movement president Stephanie Midler, "This system isn't going to solve the
problems it has created for the African community or for anyone. We support
the Uhuru Movement in building African self-reliance programs that include
economic development institutions to create community commerce, community
gardens to provide access to healthy food, freedom schools that offer
community-based, meaningful curriculum, and independent media like Uhuru
News, Uhuru Radio and The Burning Spear Newspaper. This is the movement
that is leading the creation of a new world for all of humanity."\n \nOmali
Yeshitela and Penny Hess will also be speaking at "World Hunger: Made in
the US" on Saturday, October 15th at the Uhuru House, an event being held
