DESCRIPTION:"La Revolution" is a harpsichord recital and lecture that is intended to be
a call to action for listeners. Early music performer and political
activist, Vibeka Lyman, will speak of her experience in France where she
witnessed a more regular occurrance of strikes and unleashed anger. She
will speak of the "spark" that is needed to ignite revolution such as the
Tunisian grocer who burned himself, hence leading into the Egypt
revolution. It is her belief that music can play a role in breaking people
out of their confines and she plans on exhibiting this through her concert.
Her performance will include dynamic works of composers such as Couperin,
Chambonnieres, Scarlatti, and J.S. Bach. A reception will follow that
includes a benefit for the homeless.\n
