DESCRIPTION:If you want to find out the pro-transgenic arguments, go search the
internet. While reading you might want to ask yourself a few
questions:\n\n1. Who is conducting the research and what is their
relationship with the biotech industry?\n\n2. Who is funding the research?
And who is their parent funder? And theirs? And theirs?\n3. Who monetarily
benefits from the research?\n\n4. When you read information from the FDA
and USDA, you might want to search a bit more and find out how many people
employed by that agency have worked in the biotech industry. While this
campaign is not focused on conspiracy theories, it is logical that if an
agency has multiple clear ties to an industry, their approach cannot help
but be biased.\n\n5. Since this technology is comparatively new, is there
any data on the long term effects of human consumption of GMO’s? Are you
comfortable being part of an experiment?\n\nThe Science\n\nAlthough this is
primarily a campaign about the right to informed choice, we also want it to
be an educational campaign. We encourage you to find out for yourselves
and see what you think about what’s out there on the net in terms of
data. And while you’re finding out about their safety for humans, we also
encourage you to sift through the data that shows how GMO crops are
affecting the rest of the world. What other countries are doing about
GMO’s and why? How are they are affecting the environment. The sites
listed below are great beginning resources.\n\nInstitute For Responsible
Technology\nUnion Of Concerned Scientists\nCenter For Food Safety – they
have a great app for iPhone and androids for GMO free shopping\n\nOnce you
start, the supply of linking here and there never stops!\n
