DESCRIPTION:Drinks in Common, the nearly monthly social gathering of the Henry George
Historical Society sports a splendid talk this month. Sun Yat-sen, China
today, and the American application is the subject of a chafing call to
think big, but act locally, using the San Francisco-born economic advocacy
of China's leading historical democratic figure.\n\nWhat a ringing
endorsement we get this coming Thursday, July 21! The clear, emphatic, and
necessary element of land rent reform as a matter of genuine societal
health rang from the lips (and dripped from the cartridge pen) of turn to
the 20th century Chinese nationalist revolutionary intellectual Sun
Yat-sen.\n\nThis coming Thursday, British historian, economist and
transportation commissioner Dave Wetzel, on speaking tour of the US, will
grace Drinks in Common with remarks about the georgist legacy in Sun
Yat-sen's economic advocacy for China. His talk, "China, robust economy,
and Sun's San Francisco mandate" should be a treat, full of information and
practical possibilities.\n\nThe door at Notable House, 189 Ellsworth St. in
San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood, opens at 6:45 pm,
complimentary supper is served buffet-style from 7, Wetzel's remarks begin
at 7:30, and Q&A and discussion run from 8 pm on.\n\nAn RSVP is appreciated
for planing purposes. But don't not come.\n
