DESCRIPTION:The "Festival of the Chariots," known throughout India as the "Ratha Yatra"
festival, has been performed for thousands of years in Puri, India and
today it is celebrated in all major cities through out the world. More then
3,000 people attend each year in San Francisco alone.\n\nThe Festival of
the Chariots seeks to educate the public on the great culture of India and
its many facets.\n\nAn interactive parade, in which people will pull three
large Chariots by ropes, will begin on John F. Kennedy Drive and Transverse
Drive in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park at 11am. The parade will continue
down JFK Dr. and end at 12pm in Sharon Meadows on the corner of JFK Dr. and
Stanyan Street. The Sharon Meadows festivities will include a Free
Vegetarian Meal, Live Theatre, Music, Ancient Indian Dances, Exhibits,
Books and much more.\n\nWe invite everyone to bring their family and
friends to experience this extraordinary event, enjoy the sumptuous
Vegetarian feast, and help pull the large chariots through Golden Gate
Park. This festival is wheel chair accessible and family friendly. No drugs
 or alcohol will be permitted.\n
