 Institute was established in 1854 as a library and vocational school for 
 mechanics, engineers, and manual laborers. Today it continues its service 
 to the community as a comprehensive library, a cultural center, and a world 
 renowned chess club. Tour will focus on the Institute’s history, the 
 unique architectural features of our landmark building, and a comprehensive
