DESCRIPTION:Afghanistan Peace Delegation Report Back\n\nMary Lou Anderson and Jim Haber
joined a delegation of anti-war activists who went to Afghanistan in March,
2011, initiated by Kathy Kelly and Voices for Creative Nonviolence. Afghan
Youth Peace Volunteers are some of the most courageous and inspiring
peacemakers in the world, and they have hosted several delegations in the
past year. The websites, ourjourneytosmile.com and livewithoutwars.org get
you to videos, poems and info by the AYPV. Their slogans and actions are
 fresh and challenging. They're on the margins of society, but not alone;
find out why Anderson and Haber want us all to stand with them!\n\nJoin us
for a discussion about:\n\n 1. AYPV's various, creative and courageous
actions against all war and violence in Afghanistan and beyond,\n 2.
Indigenous, progressive elements of Afghan society and how to work with
them,\n 3. How fear of the Taliban manifests in different ways in
Afghanistan and\n 4. Enjoy photos and watch powerful videos produced by
the AYPV and Peace delegates.\n\nAnderson and Haber live in Las Vegas, NV
and organize with Nevada Desert Experience against the U.S. Drone program
at nearby Creech Air Force Base where crews remotely control Predator and
Reaper aircraft on their “hunt and kill” missions in Afghanistan, Iraq
and elsewhere. They promote nonviolence and feed the poor with the Las
Vegas Catholic Worker. Haber also is on the National Committee of the War
Resisters League and lived and organized in the San Francisco for many
years.\n\nIn the words of the Afghan Youth Peace Volunteers: “Why Not
Love?”\n\nLight refreshments will be served. Images and video clips will
 punctuate the presentation.\n
