DESCRIPTION:On Sat. May 14, ATA Gallery’s OTHER CINEMA proudly presents our annual
\n‘PSYCHO-GEOGRAPHY’ program!\nRiffing off the particular sensibilities
of specific spaces, these brave and intellectually curious films, videos,
and performances explore, interrogate, and express the marvelous \nin land-
and city-scapes through personal audio-visual agency.\nDr. Melinda Stone
enacts a live interaction with her masterful “Foursquare Trolley
Dolly”, which instantaneously moves between 4 versions of the legendary
”Trip Down Market Street” (originally 1906, as we now know),
accompanied by a lovely Beth Custer musical track.\nHaight neighborhood
advocate Greg Gaar rolls into the Mission for once to unload another kind
of history—“The Natural History of San Francisco”! In his 50-min.
narrated slide-show, \nGaar minces few words in his provocative commentary
on the fate of native plants \nin our fair City.\nALSO on the program are
the California theatrical premiere of Jeanne Liotta’s S8-sourced
“Crosswalk”, Roger Deutsch’s “Prelude” (world premiere), Doug
 Graves’ 16mm \n“Palms: A Neighborhood”, Ian Sundhal’s “Ghost
Beach” (also 16mm, in 3D!, and a world premiere), Ben Woods’ update on
the Mission Dolores mural replica newly painted on Bartlett Street, and
Michael Rudnick’s “Dugout on Berry Street”, on the film history
beneath the Giant’s SOMA Stadium. \nThe show opens with an
in-person appearance and presentation by Enid Baxter Blader of her “The
Ord”, an on-going archeological project on the “converted” military
 base down \nby Monterey. \n\nFree maps!!!\n
