 has been hailed for its significant contributions to civil rights causes 
 and its support to the LGBTQ community even before the Stonewall Era.  
 Founders, Reverend Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani have been leaders 
 in the struggle for LGBTQ rights in San Francisco since the 1960s, when 
 Reverend Williams began performing same-sex unions and Mirikitani advised 
 and defended LGBT street youth.  GLIDE’s participation in the San 
 Francisco Pride Parade goes all the way back to the parade’s beginning in 
 1970. Today, under the leadership of its founders and Pastors Don Guest and 
 Karen Oliveto, Glide continues to be one of the few churches that 
 consistently march in the SF Pride Parade year-after-year.  Last year at 
 the 40th anniversary of the SF Pride Parade, GLIDE was nominated with the 
 honor of “Most Absolutely Fabulous Overall Contingent.”\n\nThe GLIDE 
 Pride Team is a 20+ member committee led by the GLIDE Gay/Bi Men’s Group 
 and Glide LBTQII Women’s Group.  They are a dynamic group of diverse, 
 creative, highly energetic LGBTQ and “Hetero-fabulous” straight 
 congregation “cheerleaders,” who take great pride in leading GLIDE’s 
 efforts in the SF Pride Parade and other LGBT events.  Their mission is to 
 educate the world about social justice, unconditional love and acceptance 
 of the LGBT community.  \n\n
