 Kosimov, and Humayun Khan. This extraordinary ensemble of internationally 
 recognized musicians mix vocals with the rubab, doyra, tabla, and on 
 special occasion, the national dance of Afghanistan, the 
 attan.\n\nCombining melody, rhythm, poetry, and dance, this performance 
 takes you on an evocative journey of cross-cultural communication and 
 exchange. Sakhi, Nader, Kosimov and Khan, deeply rooted in traditions from 
 Central Asia, effortlessly interweave and embody their craft, evoking the 
 wonders of this beautiful and complex region.\n\nSounds and Rhythms of 
 Afghanistan has received rave reviews and standing ovations from audiences 
 in Europe, Canada, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and throughout the Middle East. In 
 2009, they performed at New York's world-renowned and prestigious Carnegie 
 Hall. A sampling of their compositions can be heard on the album "Rainbow," 
 a collaboration with the world famous Kronos Quartet (on the Smithsonian 
 Folkways record label), and on "Footsteps of Babur," musical encounters 
 from the lands of the Mughals.\n\n \n\n \nAbout the Musicians\nHomayun 
 Sakhi is currently a master of the Afghan rubob and belongs to the Ustad 
 Mohammad Omar style of rubob playing.\n\nSalar Nader is considered one of 
 the most sought after and stunning tabla players of his generation and has 
 been groomed by the one of the finest percussionist/tabla players in the 
 world, Ustad Zakir Hussain.\n\nAbbos Kosimov is considered one the most 
 entertaining and explosive doyra players in the history of frame 
 drumming.\n\nHumayun Khan is a classical vocalist who has been groomed by 
 sitar legend Ustad Vilayat Khan and Ustad Fateh Ali Khan. \n
