DESCRIPTION:For years, folks in the DIY community have been working on ways to 
 make\nour communities more self-reliant and more supportive of each 
 other.\nMany envision a world in which people don't need police or laws to 
 tell\nthem how to be a good person.\n\nAnd people naturally ask "Without 
 police, wouldn't there be chaos?" and\n"What about the bad people?"  We get 
 asked these legitimate questions\nall the time. It's time we acknowledged 
 that safety and security is an\nimportant concern, began to wrestle with 
 some possible answers, and\nprovide functional alternatives to rule by 
 violence and coercion.\n\nThis is a structured workshop to plan ways to 
 keep our communities safe\nat all levels. Accountability process, community 
 crisis response,\neducation and public perception, mutual support and 
 solidarity, defense\nof communities, and making the police obsolete -- 
 these are some of the\nchallenges we'll tackle.\n\n*Community Safety 
 Workgroup\nEvery Other Thursday starting Thu Apr 14th  5pm to 7pm\nSubRosa, 
 703 Pacific Ave, Santa Cruz*\n\nWith this class we jump start an ongoing 
 Community Safety Workgroup that\nwill grow beyond this humble series of
