DESCRIPTION:Vigil for Japan: San Francisco showing solidarty \nThe people of Japan are
going through a terrible crisis. But they are not going it alone. There's
been an outpouring of support from people around the world and the
situation has truly brought out the best in humankind.\nHere in the San
Francisco, we are organizing candlelight vigils at Civic Center at 6:30pm
on March 28th to demonstrate solidarity with the people of Japan and to
imagine a world free of nuclear disasters. As all types of other support
continues to flow between our two countries, we wanted to take a minute and
simply let the Japanese people know that our thoughts and best wishes are
with them during this time.\nBut we can't do this without your support. Can
you join us at Civic Center for a candlelight vigil for Japan on March
28th? \nPlease contact Lauren for more information:
\nLauren.thorpe@greenpeace.org\n \n\nWhere will you be on March 28th? We
hope you’ll be standing with thousands across the country in support of
the people of Japan. Greenpeace activists will be hosting vigils in your
state as a sign of respect to the people of Japan. So far we have more than
160 vigils registered!\n\nFind an event in your area right now. \n\nWe’ve
been getting an outpouring of positive feedback and support, including from
Actor Ken Watanabe* and an official endorsement from the Japanese American
Citizens League**. Mr. Watanabe wrote us a note recently that we had to
share: Ken writes, "Thank you for thinking of Japan during this difficult
time. Please continue to keep the victims in your thoughts and prayers.”
\n\nAnd the Japanese American Citizens League has also joined with all of
us, lending their support and endorsement for the events. National
Executive Director Floyd Mori went on to say,\n\n\n"The Japanese American
Citizens League would like to express its deepest condolences to the people
of Japan affected by the earthquakes and tsunami. As the oldest and largest
Asian American civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States,
we have set up a relief fund with Direct Relief International and have
raised over 1 million dollars in the joint relief efforts. This vigil
should be a time for us to remember those who were lost during this
tremendous tragedy in Japan's history."\nWe’re so humbled by this
feedback, but we certainly couldn’t do this without you. So join your
friends, neighbors and Greenpeace on Monday March 28th for this candlelight
vigil to show solidarity with the Japanese people and imagine a nuclear
free world. \n\nChoosing March 28th was no coincidence. It also happens to
be the 32nd anniversary of the Three Mile Island nuclear disaster that
happened in Pennsylvania, where thousands of people's lives were affected.
We don’t want to see any more Three Mile Island’s and we don’t want
to see any more Fukushima’s. This is our time to stand up and imagine a
future free of nuclear disasters. \n\nAll across the country we will be
showing an outpouring of support for the people of Japan. \n\nFind a vigil
in your area and join us today.\n\nWe’ll see you on March 28th!\n\nYour
friends at Greenpeace\n\n*Ken Watanabe created two projects in support of
the people of Japan during this crisis. To learn more about the projects

Japanese American Citizens League is doing for the relief effort visit
