DESCRIPTION:What are Transition Towns? How can this model address the many challenges
we face in our world today? How can you help to create a Berkeley
Transition Town? The Transition Town Movement is an international
grassroots effort to harness the collective genius of ordinary people to
find solutions to the serious challenges of climate change, peak oil and
economic instability. It represents one of the most promising ways of
engaging people in strengthening their communities against the effects of
these challenges, resulting in a life that is more abundant, fulfilling,
equitable and socially connected. Berkeley will be launching its own
Transition Initiative; you are invited to participate in a lively
discussion to learn more about Transition Towns, how they work and how you
can get involved. Meet representatives from Bay Localize, Berkeley's
Climate Action Plan, Transition Albany and San Francisco. Learn how you can
be a part of this exciting effort to transition from fossil fuel dependency
to a more engaged, interdependent and resilient community.\n
