DESCRIPTION:Santa Cruz, CA - On Tuesday, December 7, 2010, SEIU ULTCW home care 
 providers, community allies, and Santa Cruz Mayor Mike Rotkin will gather 
 outside the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors at 8:00 am to picket and 
 protest potential cuts to in-home caregiver wages.  Protesters will later 
 file into the Boardroom to testify during public comment about the need to 
 protect this vital program by protecting worker wages.\n\nThe protest comes 
 on the heals of the Santa Cruz City Council passing a resolution on 
 November 23rd that honors the hard work that in-home caregivers do, and as 
 the Santa Cruz Living Wage Ordinance celebrates its 10th 
 anniversary.\n\nCurrently, Santa Cruz County in-home caregivers earn $11.50 
 per hour, which is $2.10 below the Living Wage Ordinance of $13.60.\n\n
