DESCRIPTION:FILM SCREENINGBroken Rainbow is an Academy Award winning documentary on the 
 forced removal of 14,000 Diné (Navajo) people from their ancestral 
 homeland in Arizona. For over 30 years since US Congress passed the 
 Relocation Act, traditional Dine at Black Mesa have resisted relocation and 
 the expansion of devastating coal strip mining operations by Peabody 
 Coal.\n\nBlack Mesa Indigenous Support volunteers will be present to answer 
 questions following the film. There will also be a brief slideshow 
 depicting on-land support activities at Black Mesa.\n\nAdmission: $5 
 suggested donation. This is a benefit event for Black Mesa families 
 resisting relocation. Snacks and drinks will be available.\n\nThis benefit 
 is part of the 2010 Fall Caravan of Support\nOn November 20th, work crews 
 from Santa Cruz and all across the country will converge in support of the 
 indigenous resistance communities of Black Mesa / Big Mountain. Our work 
 will include chopping firewood, sheepherding, and repairing structures for 
 the icy winter months. Donations of tools, food, funds and  other supplies 
 are requested. Any items you wish to donate may be brought to this event.
