DESCRIPTION:Come take an interactive tour of the Ecology Center’s environmentally 
 friendly demonstration site. Learn about a broad- spectrum of simple 
 improvements that can be made to green an urban home. \n\nThis tour 
 includes:\n* Berkeley’s first city-permitted wetland / greywater 
 system\n* solar panels * on-demand and solar water heater * water saving 
 fixtures * natural and recycled building materials\n* rainwater cistern and 
 water catchment * washing machine greywater * a living roof garden * 
 organic permaculture food forest\n* native drought tolerant plants * 
 mushroom cultivation and more.\n\nThe second half of the day features 
 longtime native plant landscaper Lyn Talkovsky. She'll give a talk and 
 clinic on designing and maintaining your yard with native plants. She'll 
 discuss plant varieties, growing conditions, troubleshooting, and local 
 sources for plants, with ample time for your questions and a walking tour 
 of the neighborhood's great gardens. \n\nStick around afterwards and 
 participate in our 10/10/10 Global Work Party for 350.org's global day of 
 action. From 1pm to 4pm we'll be redoing and refreshing the earthen plaster 
 on the cob wall of our shed. Come get your hands in the clay and learn a 
 little about building with the earth.\n\nSunday, October 10, 2010, Begins
