DESCRIPTION:The Public Safety Committee is the group, headed by Lynn Robinson, which 
 includes Councilmembers  Mike Rotkin and Don Lane--they are supposed 
 charged with overseeing the police and fire departments.  \n\nIn theory, 
 then, they should be those who have answers to questions like:\n\nWhy a 
 non-public process to spend $1 million and foist 8 new cops on us?\n\nWhat 
 is the cost of the current crackdown on Peacecamp2010 at City Hall, 
 including kleig lights, security patrols, extra police stops, property 
 seizures, closure of city hall and library property at night, and increased 
 prosecution expenses?\n\nWhy aren't police being directed to determine if 
 there are any shelter beds available on a particular night before violating 
 the privacy, dignity, and health of sleeping homeless people with 
 wake-up's, interrogation, searches, citations, and arrests?\n\nPublic 
 Comment on these issues will probably be severely limited (since none of 
 these appear on the Committee agenda).  \n\nThe Public Comment period is at
