DESCRIPTION:Co-sponsored by FriendlyFavors.org, the Peace Committee, Social Justice
Council of the MDUU Church and the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa
County\nDalai Lama Renaissance is a feature length documentary film,
produced and directed by Khashyar Darvich, and narrated by actor Harrison
Ford. The film documents the Dalai Lama's meeting with the self-titled
"Synthesis" group, made up of 40 Western "renaissance" thinkers who hope to
use the meeting to change the world and resolve many of the world's
problems. The meeting took place at the Dalai Lama's home in Dharamsala,
India.\nThe film won 12 awards, was the official selection in over 40
international film festivals, and played in cinemas in over 100 cities in
the U.S., as well as other countries in the world like Germany, Austria,
Switzerland.\nAmong the Western thinkers who meet the Dalai Lama are:
quantum physicists Fred Alan Wolf and Amit Goswami, social scientist Jean
Houston, and founder of Agape International Spiritual Center church in Los
Angeles, Dr. Michael Beckwith.\nThe film has been released in two volumes.
Where the first Dalai Lama Renaissance film led audiences on their own
inner journey of personal transformation from ego to open-heartedness, the
second volume is a more in-depth, intimate discussion between the Dalai
Lama and some of the greatest thinkers of our time. Volume One and part
of Volume Two will be shown, with a refreshments and discussion with the
Director in between them.\n\nAdmission: $20 ($16 for Peace Center & MDUUC
members). $10 Students. No one turned away for lack of funds.\n\n
