DESCRIPTION:Come on out for a summertime workshop at the EcoHouse in North Berkeley. 
 EcoHouse is a demonstration home and garden located in a North Berkeley 
 residential neighborhood. Classes, workshops, and tours of the house and 
 garden are designed to teach people from all walks of life how to make 
 their living space more healthy, harmonious, nontoxic, productive, energy 
 and water efficient, carbon neutral, and ecologically friendly. EcoHouse 
 demonstrates ecological ways of living that are accessible and affordable 
 to people of all ages, ethnic/racial backgrounds, and income levels.\n\nAt 
 this exciting workshop you will learn how to create a food forest in your 
 yard. Fruit tree guilds have a central element (fruit tree or nut tree), 
 mulch plants, nitrogen fixer, nutrient/dynamic accumulators, insectaries 
 for beneficial insects, vine layer, mushrooms and the soil food web. The 
 fruit tree guild is a way of blending certain categories like edible, 
 ornamental, artistic and functional. The food forest is on a larger scale. 
 There are seven layers of the food forest; the canopy layer, the 
 understory, the shrub layer, the herb layer, the ground cover layer, the 
 vine layer and the root layer. Come see how you can put these in action in 
 your yard at this summertime workshop. Taught by Christopher Shein. Please
