DESCRIPTION:Thursday August 12 7 pm San Francisco Drinks in Common on Prop
13\n\n\nDid you know that commercial real estate pays property tax based on
the sales price of land at the time of purchase? In many instances,
commercial real estate is paying prperty tax as much as 25 years out of
date!!!\n\nJoin SFSU graduate students Omar Ventura and Daniel Villanueva
as they launch their campaign to amend Prop 13 so that commercial real
estate pays property tax based on periodically reassessed values.\n\nDrinks
in Common is a social networking program of the Henry George Historical
Society. Join us most second Thursdays of the month at Rancho Parnassus,
132 6th St. in San Francisco's SoMa district. 7 pm talk, 6:30 social
 gathering.\n\nhttp://www.henrygeorgehistoricalsociety.org\n\n\nOmar Ventura
: Graduate Political Science student at San Francisco State University .
\n\nDaniel Villanueva: Graduate Anthropology student at San Francisco State
University . \n\nWe support all groups dedicated to amending/reforming
proposition 13. Phil Ting’s Close the Prop 13 Loophole is one of those
groups which we actively support. In addition, we have created a
grassroots group/organization/movement to Amend Prop 13 via the referenda
process at San Francisco State University . The plan is named The Fair
Property Assessment Plan which seeks to close the Prop 13 corporate tax
loophole while maintaining the protection offered to homeowners by Prop 13.
By Amending Prop 13 via the ballot initiative process, Californians can
generate an estimated $7.5 billion annually for our state. \n\nThe Fair
Property Assessment Plan was chosen at the Berkeley General Assembly to
represent solutions offered by the CSU's to help fix California ’s
current budget deficit problem. This is one step of many needed to truly
rehabilitate California and California education! \n
\nCalifornians for the Fair Property Assessment is a group made-up of
students, workers, teachers, and many other concerned Californians. The
purpose of the group is to educate/inform the public about Prop 13 and the
need to reform Prop 13. During the fall, we will tour as many schools as
possible to inform the public on the benefits of reforming prop 13! To
show your support, please visit and join our group on FaceBook @
