DESCRIPTION:Childcare & the Left : Growing Strong Multi-Generational
Organizations\n\nHosted by: POWER, POOR Magazine/Presna POBRE and the Bay
Area Childcare Collective \n\nDoes your organization have childcare? Do you
want to help create multi-generational organizations and movements? Come to
this workshop to learn about how to make that happen!\n\nWorking class
women of color need to be at the center of our movement in terms of
analysis, issues and leadership. Why? Deeply embedded institutions of
domination- economic inequality, racism, sexism and homophobia - are the
bedrock of the oppression of low-income communities of color and women. We
must build a social justice movement to deeply transform these institutions
and this change will come only when the people who are most oppressed by
these institutions are empowered to lead the movement for social change.*
In this white-supremacist capitalist patriarchy the joy and labor of caring
for children has become extremely gendered and fallen on the backs of
women. For this reason, childcare is a critical yet understated need in
our movements enabling working class families to actively participate in
movement building spaces. \n\n• Learn about childcare models that are
helping to build strong working-class women of color led organizations and
mass-based multigenerational movements. \n• Hear from a panel of parents,
organizers and youth about the impacts childcare can have on member
turnout, women's leadership development, multigenerational movement
building, building with allies, improving organizational culture and more.
\n• Small group discussions will help participants vision and plan how to
incorporate childcare into their work.\n• Participants will leave with
resources and analysis that will support them in initiating new childcare
programming or building up existing programming.\n\nThe more people we
include in the movements today the stronger we are tomorrow!\n\nChildcare
and snacks will be provided provided. Space is limited. Please RSVP to
a_clemenzi@yahoo.com\n\n(*Language and inspiration taken from SOUL's
 Sisters at the Center article.)\n
