DESCRIPTION:Saturday, May 22nd, 2010—Rallying. Demonstrating. Marching. Call it what
you will, but there is no denying the power of people peacefully coming
together to make their voices heard. KIPP Bayview Academy (KBA) students
and local community members have united to promote peaceful resolutions to
social issues, culminating in the second annual “Live in Peace March”
though the Bayview.\nThe march will be conducted on Saturday, May 22nd,
2010 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm, and followed by a scholarship ceremony from
1:30pm to 3:00pm. Persons interested in participating in the “Live in
Peace March” (L.I.P.) should call 415) 467-2522. \nKIPP Bayview Academy
hosts the event along with:\n•	Literacy for Environmental Justice
(Bayview)\n•	Rapha House (Bayview)\n•	For Youth By Youth (East Palo
Alto) \n•	Representatives from Richmond High School (Richmond).\n“The
march is part of a greater movement which takes on the urgency of Malcolm
X's vision and combines it with the love of Gandhi and King. Even Che
Guevara acknowledged that the revolution must be guided by love. L.I.P.
epitomizes how powerful a community dedicated to peace can be.” said
Tiffani Johnson, Director of Student Life of KIPP Bayview Academy. “Our
students cannot be successful within the classroom and go on to lead
healthy and productive lives when their realities are engulfed in violence
and injustice.”\n8th grader Ja’Raya Martin, member of KBA’s student
leader organization We Reflect the Future remarks, “The march helps our
community because people see that youth are doing something positive. They
hear our message and see our signs and understand that we are trying to
make changes. Last year, people came out on the streets to thank us and
encourage us!” \nThe L.I.P. March harnesses the power of the students and
the community taking a public stance against issues plaguing southeastern
San Francisco, and serves to ignite social change from within the
neighborhoods themselves. \nAbout KIPP Bayview Academy\nKIPP Bayview
