 immigrants have marched and rallied in major cities across the United 
 States, calling for just immigration reform. In 2006, it was the immigrant 
 rights movement that resurrected May Day, or International Workers’ Day, 
 as a day of action for workers’ rights in the United States.\nThe 
 millions of immigrant workers who often work for low wages and under 
 difficult conditions in fields, factories, homes and elsewhere, form a 
 vital part of the U.S. economy. Immigrant workers, like all workers, have a 
 right to good jobs and living conditions without the repression currently 
 unleashed against the immigrant community. Immigrant Rights Are Workers’ 
 Rights!\n\nHistory of May Day\nThe U.S. working class first established 
 International Workers’ Day in a fierce struggle to win the eight-hour 
 workday in the late 1800’s. The day, celebrated around the world as a day 
 of working class struggle, again marks an important political day of action

 San Francisco in a discussion of the recent upsurge in the immigrant rights
