DESCRIPTION:Julio Huato, author and economics professor, was born in Mexico. Since his 
 student days he has been an activist, both in Mexico and the US, around 
 working-class issues, from the struggle for housing to basic urban public 
 services, farm land, water, schools, and health care. Julio has been a 
 research associate at the Howard Samuels Center, and taught economics at 
 Drew University and Ramapo College. Currently, he is an associate professor 
 of economics at St. Francis College (Brooklyn) and a member of the steering 
 committee of the Union for Radical Political Economics and of Science & 
 Society’s editorial board. A group discussion will end his talk. As
