DESCRIPTION:***THIS SUNDAY***\nPlease join LGBT Compassion and AoC, with advocates,
this Sunday.\n\nHelp protest against animal cruelty from poultry vendors
selling chickens, ducks, quails, pheasants, and other birds at San
Francisco's Civic Center Farmers Market, this Sunday morning, the 28th of
March.\n\nWe have begun multiple weekly demonstrations, on Wednesday's and
Sunday's, regularly, at the U.N Plaza Farmers Market, to send the message
that animal cruelty will not be tolerated.\n\nDemo confirmations and
 updates sent out, weekly.\n\nWhen: \n***THIS SUNDAY***\nSunday, 28th of
March, 9:00am to (at least) 11:00am\n\nPlease check the the AoC Advocacy
 hotline - (619) 467-6535- for demo status updates.\nIf you're running late,
please check the hotline.\nDemo status updates are made indicating when
demos have finished.\n\nWhere: \n"Heart of the City" Civic Center Farmers
 Market\n1182 Market St\n(between 8th St & Grove St)\nSan Francisco, CA
94102\nConveniently located at the Civic Center BART station.\nThe focus
point of the demo will be the NE corner of the market, near the water
fountains.\n\n***Signs and literature provided.*** \n\n Background on Civic
Center campaign: \n\nSince April of last year, LGBT Compassion and AoC have
filed complaints and taken legal measures against bird vendors exercising
animal cruelty, \nwhile monitoring their activities.\n\nCivic Center has
been a challenge, particularly with the primary vendor, Raymond Young
Poultry, but we have been able to get media attention on this issue,\nas
well as have impact on other bird vendors acting outside the
law.\n\nBecause of the lack of action on the city's part against this
animal cruelty, we are successfully amplifying attention with peaceful
demonstrations.\n\n CAMPAIGN UPDATE: \n\nWe have just completed our latest
demonstration on Wednesday, the 24st of March, which was our first weekday
demonstration at the market.\n\nEven with our small advocate number,
Wednesday, we were able to get Market management's notice,\nas well as
distribute a sizable number of pamphlets. Once again, vendors expressed
their support, and many patrons thanked us for our
advocacy.\n\nDemonstrations have been particularly successful for the last
few weeks, as we have distributed nearly 1,500 leaflets.\n\nYOU ARE WELCOME
TO JOIN OUR EVENTS!\n\nWe are pleased with our effectiveness but it would
contribute to have more advocates join us at this event.\n\nWe could use
your help.\n\nWe've been able to get market attention and make a statement
with our small group (we certainly have been noticed!),\nbut we need more
people if we want this to be an effective campaign.\n\nFor further info on
this campaign, please refer to LGBTcompassion.org\n\nPlease let me know if
 you have any questions.\n \nThank you.\n\n-Douglass\nVegan
