DESCRIPTION:So you couldn't make it on Thursday last? Not to worry, you've got another
chance. This coming Monday, March 1st, starting @ 10 AM, we'll be out there
again, letting KPFA programmers and administration know they CANNOT
continue to demand community funding while IGNORING issues right here in
our, and what they claim is their, community. As this video link shows, the
possibly LEAD, ASBESTOS, and NUCLEAR RADIATION-CONTAMINATED DEBRIS from
UC's decommissioned Bevatron nuclear particle accelerator is being
transported down the length of University Ave., covered w\ nothing but an
ordinary tarp, just half a block away from KPFA's studio doors, while
KPFA programmers, and especially its news department, sit idly by. NOT A
WORD of coverage on this issue. This is unconscionable, especially during
this time, when they're so busy touting themselves as a COMMUNITY-BASED
radio station while demanding funding from the community. When asked about
this issue, J.R. Valrey, Hard Knock Radio's `minister of information`,
responded, "I only cover Black issues." And last Thursday, KPFA programmers
Dennis Bernstein (Flashpoints) and Miguel Molina were approached directly
by us re this issue. Dennis ran into the building, saying, "I have to do a
piece on Africa," and Miguel promised to call us the next day for a phone
interview during his Friday night program, La Onda Bajita. He never made
that call.So join us in letting KraPFA know that No Coverage of Community
Issues will earn them NO COMMUNITY SUPPORT OR FUNDING. That's Monday
 morning, March 1st, 10AM until 4PM, @ the KPFA studio building.SEE YOU
 THERE!\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2010/02/27/18638991.php
