DESCRIPTION:The San Francisco Chamber Orchestra returns to the Museum this year with
their Rush Hour Concert series: 60-minute concerts designed to keep you out
of traffic and on the edge of your seat, exploring interesting corners of
the classical repertoire and featuring world-class soloists.\n\nIn March,
critically acclaimed mandolin player Avi Avital of Israel plays
Beethoven’s charming but completely neglected Andante con Variazioni as
well as Argentinean composer Osvaldo Golijov’s simmering and
tango-inspired Last Round for String Orchestra.\n\nAvital has played with
major orchestras, such as the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rostov
State Theatre Soloists, I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, the Ingolstadt
Kammerorchester and the New York Metropolis Ensemble. In 2007, Avital won
the first prize at Israel's prestigious competition for soloists, the
“Aviv competition - Doris and Mori Arkin Award”, thus becoming the
first mandolin player in the history of the competition to achieve this
recognition.\n\nFor more information please email info@thecjm.org, call
415.655.7800, or visit thecjm.org.\n\nThis event is free. \nMuseum
 admission is separate.\n\n
