DESCRIPTION:We will listen to excerpts of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "A Time to Break
the Silence," the famous speech given at the Riverside Church in Harlem,
New York in 1967. \n\nWe will also listen to a radio program hosted by
African People's Socialist Party Chairman Omali Yeshitela in recognition of
the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr.\n\nThe program hosted by Yeshitela
took place on a white liberal radio station in Florida where he challenges
the political tendency of the white peace movement to censor and withhold
support for the African liberation movement and denounces the practice of
holding up the name of Martin Luther King, Jr., the slain African civil
rights leader to try to impose a position of pacifism, or philosophical
non-violence onto the movement.\n\nWe will follow up with a discussion
about the current anti-war struggle challenging U.S. colonial policies here
and abroad and the growing resistance led by the African led Uhuru Movement
for freedom and justice for the African community from West Oakland to West
Africa.\n\nSponsored by the Uhuru Solidarity Movement.\nBe a part of a
movement that is changing the world!\n
