DESCRIPTION:Climate Change: From COP 15 to Climate Justice Movement\n\nGiven that COP
15 has failed and that climate change will be pivotal for years to come,
how best to organize for climate justice?\n\nTonight's event will lay out
in simple and understandable terms:\n \nWhat is the Copenhagen Accord (or
Discord)?\nHow does it contrast with the science demands?\nWhat do other
groups of nations, such as the G77, AOSIS and the EU, call for?\n\nWhat
actions worked and didn't work in CPH?\nAnd what are our strategies for
tackling climate change?\n\nCome hear reports and participate in open
discussion:\n\nThe Story of Cap and Trade - a 9-minute animated short that
breaks down carbon trading will be shown.\n\nPatrick Bond, climate justice
activist, writer and director of the UKZN Centre for Civil Society in
South Africa, will introduce the film.\n\nTina Gerhardt, activist, academic
and free-lance journalist, wrote daily about events inside the Bella Center
and demos and actions outside on the streets. Her work has appeared in
Faultlines, San Francisco Bay Guardian, San Francisco Chronicle, In These
Times and The Nation.com.\n\nAntonio Gonzales, director AIM-West, attended
the COP 15 in Copenhagen and advocated efforts to include indigenous
concerns in the final text of the accord.\n\nFollowed by open discussion.\n
