DESCRIPTION:Come and join Revolution Books in a discussion of Unresolved
Contradictions, Driving Forces for Revolution\nPart 2: (Some Observations
 on) The International
 Movement\nhttp://revcom.us/avakian/driving/index.html\n\nIn part 2, Bob
Avakian addresses the crossroads facing the international communist
movement today – will it be “a vanguard of the future or residue of the
past.” This is a “world historic challenge,” he says, and the task
is nothing less than launching a new stage of communist revolution
internationally – something humanity needs more than ever. \n\nIn
“Vanguards and individual leaders: real contradictions, and the decisive
importance of line,” Avakian digs deeply into questions of leadership,
including the role of exceptional leaders like Marx, Lenin, and Mao.
\n\nHe speaks to the question many raise: “You have these revolutionary
struggles and the leadership goes bad or the leadership gets captured or
killed, and that's the end of the struggle.” (and discusses how
communists can and must do better on this than in the past).\n\n* Also
discussed: why Avakian’s New Synthesis of communism is the basic
framework for a new wave of communist revolution, and the pivotal role of
the Manifesto from the RCP: “Communism: The Beginning of a New
Stage.”\n\n* The crucial importance of winning a section of the
intelligentsia to revolutionary communism; and why in socialism, any
leading group will be made up of people who can work with ideas – in
essence intellectuals – no matter where they came from. How continually
strengthening leading cores and bringing forward new waves of leadership is
key to dealing with the contradictions of leadership. \n
