 the Menagerie Collectives Winter Art Show.  Founded in 2008 the Menagerie 
 is a diverse group of artists bound by commitment to collaboration, higher 
 artistry, and maintenance of artistic community.  With this collective, the 
 artists hope to achieve a greater dialogue (with each other and their 
 viewers) about their artistic vision, its interaction with social forces, 
 and the alchemy within collaborative spaces. Their work extends beyond the 
 personal: it is informed by history, surrounding politics, cultural 
 dynamics, and the unknown future. This winters exhibition features a 
 menagerie of works crossing boundaries between painting, printmaking, 
 sculpture, installation and photography.\n \nThe 2009 Menagerie collective 
 winter exhibition is on view at the Big Umbrella Studios; a perfect venue 
 for such a group.  Big Umbrella Studio’s space is for artists, makers, 
 and doers to show, create, and share among memories of un-known and under 
 used spaces and in the face of an ever changing Divisadero. The space 
 exists because artists said it should exist and continue to. BUS seeks to 
 establish a space molded by collective awareness of possibility through 
 experiment, community involvement and an open door to the local society of 
 urban artistic action and collaboration within the Western Addition.\n 
 \nGallery hours: Wednesday - Sunday, 3pm - 8pm. Stop by and check out some
