DESCRIPTION:Special Guest Speaker: DANNY BLACKGOAT\nDanny Blackgoat is a longtime Dine'
(Navajo) resister of forced\nrelocation. Traveling from his home at Big
Mountain, Danny Blackgoat (son\nof Roberta Blackgoat) will speak about
relocation, coal mining, and recent\nhappenings at Black Mesa.\nFilm
Screening: BROKEN RAINBOW\nAn Academy Award winning documentary. Broken
Rainbow reveals the\nmachinations of energy companies and their government
proxies as they\neagerly cast aside the peaceful Dine' to make way for oil,
gas, uranium\nand coal mining. In their own words, elders and outside
experts discuss\nthe rich culture and history of the Navajo as well as
their close friends\nand neighbors, the Hopi. Beautifully photographed and
scored, Broken\nRainbow compassionately illuminates a modern Trail of Tears
and the deeply\nrooted courage of the Dine' who vow to never leave their
sacred\nhomelands.\nAdmission: $5-10\nThis event is a benefit for the
2009\nFall Caravan to Black Mesa.\nOn November 21st, work crews from Santa
Cruz and all across the country\nwill converge in support of the indigenous
resistance communities of Big\nMountain, Black Mesa. Donations of tools,
food, and other supplies are\nrequested. Any items you wish to donate may
be brought to this event. See\nthe needs list, below.\nEvent
 Schedule:\n6pm: Doors open\n6:30pm: Film (Broken Rainbow)\n7:45pm:
 Intermission\n8:00pm: Danny Blackgoat\nBackground:\nSINCE 1974, federal
relocation policy has forced 14,000 Dine' (Navajo)\npeople from their
ancestral homeland in Arizona. This genocidal policy was\ncrafted by
government agents and energy company representatives in order\nto gain
access to the mineral resources of Black Mesa - billions of tons\nof coal,
uranium and natural gas. For over 30 years, traditional Dine' at\nBlack
Mesa have lived in resistance, steadfastly refusing to relocate
as\nstrip-mines rip apart their sacred lands and generating plants poison
the\ndesert air.\n"We are resisting relocation and the coal mining not only
for ourselves\nbut for the whole world. Black Mesa must not be desecrated
because of its\nsacredness --it provides life to all living things
including all the human\nraces."\nFor more information:\nBlack Mesa
