DESCRIPTION:Broken Rainbow is the story of the Dine' people's contemporary resistance
to ongoing colonization of their lands, people, and sovereignty by the US
government and its Corporate ally, the Peabody Coal Company.\n\nSince 1974
more than 14,000 Dine’ people have been forcibly removed from their
ancestral homelands by the U.S government, following the discovery of
enormous reserves of low sulfur coal underneath their land. \n\nAt this
moment, Washington D.C. and Peabody Coal are planning ways to expand their
occupation of tribal lands to extract mineral & other resources. These
plans would exacerbate already devastating environmental and cultural
impacts on local communities.\n\nThe communities of Black Mesa have
resisted for three decades by staying on their land and continuing their
traditional lifeways. This event benefits Black Mesa residents in
organizing caravans of activists and volunteers to bring support to their
communities before the approaching cold winter months.\n\nPizza and snacks
provided\n$5-$10 or more suggested donation. \nAll funds raised will be
split equally between direct funds to elders and supporting participation
 in the caravan.\n\n\n
