DESCRIPTION:Letters from prisoners, poetry, music, food, featuring Richard Brown (SF
8), John Eckels, PO' Poets/Poeteas Pobres, Eddy Zheng, and Michael De Wall,
 music\nSUNDAY October 18, 3-7pm\nLa Placita\n2375 Fruitvale Ave,
Oakland\n\nThis event is a benefit for the Prisoners Revolutionary
Literature Fund (PRLF). Many prisoners around the country read Revolution
newspaper (published by RCP Publications,\n(www.revcom.us) as well as
receive books and other literature through the PRLF. The PRLF provides an
educational opportunity for prisoners to engage with world events and key
political, cultural, and philosophical questions of the day from a unique
revolutionary perspective, including discussions of morality, religion,
science, and the arts. Every week prisoners can delve into the urgent and
lively news and debate about unfolding political and social struggles, and
can critically think about and dissect the current state of society as well
as search for an alternative. At present the PRLF has received hundreds of
requests from prisoners for complementary subscriptions in Spanish and
English to Revolution newspaper, and other revolutionary literature, which
have not been filled because of lack of funds, which are urgently needed.
PRLF works to counter increasing censorship that seeks to deny prisoners
access to Revolution newspaper and the other revolutionary literature
requested. \n This program is being presented by a group of Bay Area
 teachers. more ino: (510) 684-8270\n\n
