PeopleAgainstChemicalTrespass.org\n\nRead why you will want to join
us...\nCDFA Anticipated to ResumeToxic LBAM Program in Early 2010\nThe CDFA
continues to put us through regulatory hoops (EIR, Reclassification,
Petitions, Senate hearings, etc.) They have\ndiscounted all credible
evidence presented by experts who say\nthe moth is not a threat and
eradication is not feasible. We\nanticipate that they will re-implement
their toxic LBAM\neradication program in early 2010.\n\nWhy Haven’t We
Been Able to Stop Their Plans to\nExpose Our Community to Toxic Pesticides?
The CDFA has the California Pesticide “Preemption Law” on its side.
Put in place in 1984 with pressure from huge pesticide lobbies, this state
law says that We The People have no right to decide what happens in our
community when it comes to large scale pesticide applications. People
don’t believe we have the right to challenge this law, but our CA State
Constitution says that WE DO. And if we want to stop the LBAM program and
future programs like it, then we must challenge this unjust law! The City
of Santa Cruz Local Control, Pesticide and Chemical Trespass Ordinance does
challenge this law.\n\nWho Decides?\nWho Decides whether you’re sprayed
with chemicals from planes? .. or from trucks around your home?\nWho
Decides whether your children’s lives are endangered by chemical sprays
linked to asthma and other lung distress?\nWho Decides whether our organic
farmers can produce healthy food for our families - untainted by
pesticides?\nWho Decides that your health and safety and that of your
children is less important than corporate profits?\n\nWe The People have
the right to, and should decide!\n\nYou are invited to a One Day Democracy
School where history and civil law will be presented which may\ntransform
your very belief system. \n\nWe hope to inspire a Citizens’ Movement to
challenge the CA Pesticide Preemption Law. The movement has already begun
with the writing of the "City of Santa Cruz Local Control Pesticide and
Trespass Ordinance."\n\nWe are the ones we have been waiting for!\nEvery
social justice movement, from the abolition of slavery, to Women's
Suffrage, to the Civil Rights Movement has had to Challenge Unjust Laws to
end institutionalized oppression and codify basic rights in law.\n\nOver
125 communities across the country (celdf.org) have successfully challenged
unjust law that denies fundamental inalienable right to local self
government in cases like uranium mining, and toxic dumping. We can do the
same!\n\nONE DAY DEMOCRACY SCHOOL Santa Cruz Sun., Nov.
