 Out of Afghanistan\nFriday, Oct. 2, 7pm\n \nOctober 7, 2009 marks the start 
 of the ninth year of the invasion of Afghanistan.\n\nIn 2001, Bush used the 
 “War on Terror” as a pretext for the imperialist intervention in 
 Afghanistan. Bush is gone but the brutal occupation continues.\n\nNow, 
 eight long years after the invasion of Afghanistan, the U.S. and its NATO 
 allies are vastly expanding the war, doubling the numbers of troops. 
 Casualties on both sides are soaring. Resistance to foreign occupation is 
 growing rapidly inside Afghanistan and across the border in Pakistan. The 
 war is a disaster for the peoples of those countries, just as are the 
 occupations of Iraq and Palestine. It is also growing disaster for the 
 people here — not only the soldiers and their families, but the tens of 
 millions of people suffering from the economic crisis.\n\nIn addition to a 
 presentation, we will view the documentary “Inside Afghanistan”, which 
 was filmed during the Soviet military intervention in Afghanistan.  The 
 film challenges the negative stereotypes of Communism and the gives the 
 viewer a new understanding of the tragic and complex struggle for change in

 2001, Bush uso la “Guerra contra el Terror” como pretexto para la 
 intervención imperialista en Afganistán.  Bush se ha ido pero la 
 ocupación brutal continúa.\n\nAhora, ocho largos años después de la 
 invasión de Afganistán, Los EE.UU y sus aliados de la OTAN están 
 expandiendo enormemente la guerra, duplicando el número de tropas.  
 Victimas en los lados están surgiendo.  Resistencia al la ocupación 
 extranjera está creciendo rápidamente dentro de Afganistán y a través 
 de la frontera en Pakistán.  La guerra es un desastre para los pueblos en 
 esos países, igual que las ocupaciones de Irak y Palestina.  También es 
 un desastre creciente para la gente allí- no solamente los soldados y sus 
 familias, pero los diez de millones de personas sufriendo de la crisis 
 económica.\n\nAdemás de la presentación, estaremos viendo el 
 documentario “Dentro de Afganistán”, que fue filmado durante la 
 intervención militar de la Unión Soviética en Afganistán.  La película
