DESCRIPTION:************ POTLUCK! ***********\n"An astonishingly wide-ranging film.
An informed and heartfelt examination of the tug of war between public
health and private interests."\n- New York Times\n\n"Lively and
 engaging...Smartly Done"\n- Los Angeles Times\n\nIrena Salina's
award-winning documentary investigation into what experts label the most
important political and environmental issue of the 21st Century - The World
Water Crisis.\n\nSalina builds a case against the growing privatization of
the world's dwindling fresh water supply with an unflinching focus on
politics, pollution, human rights, and the emergence of a domineering world
water cartel.\n\nInterviews with scientists and activists intelligently
reveal the rapidly building crisis, at both the global and human scale, and
the film introduces many of the governmental and corporate culprits behind
the water grab, while begging the question "CAN ANYONE REALLY OWN
WATER?"\n\nBeyond identifying the problem, FLOW also gives viewers a look
at the people and institutions providing practical solutions to the water
crisis and those developing new technologies, which are fast becoming
blueprints for a successful global and economic
 turnaround.\nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7JYS7My6nU\nhttp://www.flowthefilm.com/\n--------------------------------------------------\nABOUT
 PEOPLE'S GROCERY...\nPeople's Grocery is a community-based organization in
West Oakland that develops creative solutions to the health problems in our
community that stem from a lack of access to and knowledge about healthy,
fresh foods. Our mission is to build a local food system that improves the
health and economy of the West Oakland community.\n\nWe want to change the
way the food system works. We believe everyone should have access to
healthy food, regardless of income. We call this "food justice" - the
belief that healthy food is a human right. The food system is failing to
provide low-income people with the healthy foods they need to thrive. It is
also failing to create good jobs and support local food businesses in urban
communities. So People’s Grocery works toward creating a food system that
centralize the needs of the urban poor and develop programs and enterprises
that produce and distribute fresh foods, provide nutrition education,
promote urban agriculture and create local jobs.\n\nPeople's Grocery has
attracted local and national attention in our effort to transform the inner
city food environment and address health problems in West Oakland. We
pursue unique approaches to community health and food security that
contribute new ways of solving our community's needs. Our efforts to build
more innovation into our approaches has provided us with first hand
knowledge and in-depth understanding of how to provide healthy foods and
nutrition education to inner city residents. As the food system continues
to decline our belief in new and bold solutions becomes stronger. This is
the essence of how People's Grocery lives its mission in the community
 everyday. \n\n\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2009/08/16/18616265.php
