DESCRIPTION:The SF Bay View newspaper and Block Report Radio are proud and excited to
announce that former Congresswoman and presidential candidate Cynthia
McKinney is coming to the San Francisco Bay Area to tell the story of her
three valiant attempts and final success at entering Gaza to show
solidarity and provide humanitarian aid to its besieged people. Her
generosity extends to the SF Bay View; proceeds from all her appearances
will keep this struggling newspaper alive and thriving.\n\nOakland’s
landmark Grand Lake Theater, 3200 Grand Ave., is the venue for the first
and main event of her four-day tour, on Thursday, Aug. 20, 6:30 p.m. Spread
the word so we can fill the house – all 600 seats.\n\nOn Friday at 6:30
p.m., she’ll meet you personally at the legendary Black Dot in West
Oakland, hosted by Marcel Diallo, star of CNN’s “Black in America 2.”
Folks in Sonoma will flock to Sonoma State on Saturday at 3 p.m. It’s on
to San Francisco Sunday, Aug. 23, 4 p.m., at the Lunacy Theater in the
grand old Redstone Building, known as the Labor Temple when San
Francisco’s world famous general strike was planned there in
 1934.\n\nHere’s the schedule in a nutshell:\n\n* Thursday, Aug. 20,
6:30pm, Grand Lake Theater, 3200 Grand Ave., Oakland, $15 (no one turned
away, space permitting), tickets available in advance at the Grand Lake box
office\n* Friday, Aug. 21, 6:30pm, Black Dot, 1195 Pine St., West
Oakland\n* Saturday, Aug. 22, 3pm, Warren Auditorium, Ives Hall, Sonoma
State University, 1801 East Cotati Ave., Rohnert Park, $5, free parking\n*
Sunday, Aug. 23, 4pm, Lunacy Theater, Redstone Building, 2940 16th St. at
Mission (16th Street BART), San Francisco, $15 (no one turned away, space
 permitting)\n* Monday, Aug. 24, 5:30pm, 33 Revolutions Cafe, 10086 San
Pablo Ave., El Cerrito\n\nCheck http://www.sfbayview.com often for news of
more events and more details about each of the events, such as the other
popular personalities who will share the various stages with Cynthia. We
can tell you now that KPFA’s Flashpoints hosts Dennis Bernstein and Nora
Barrows Friedman, renowned for cutting edge coverage of Palestine, will
join Cynthia at the Grand Lake Theater.\n\nYou’ll hear all about the
Israeli Navy’s kidnapping in international waters of Cynthia and the rest
of the Free Gaza 21 and their week in an Israeli prison, where they
discovered that most of Israel’s prisoners are Black Africans. Expect to
hear Cynthia’s wisdom, too, on the rise of progressive independent media,
such as the SF Bay View, Block Report Radio, Indymedia and the Pacifica
network – KPFA in Berkeley, KPFK in LA, KPFT in Houston, WPFW in DC, WBAI
in New York and 133 affiliate stations – as the old mainstream media
Goliaths fall.\n\nWe are profoundly grateful to all of you who are and will
be working with us to make this a tour that will transform the Bay Area and
beyond. Feel free to contact POCC Minister of Information JR at
blockreportradio [at] sfbayview.com or Mary Ratcliff at editor [at]
 sfbayview.com or (415) 671-0789 with any questions or suggestions.\n
